The Vimana is the “space vehicle” that surmounts a sacred building, as if a sort of flying saucer had landed upon it, bearing a crew of saints and angels (known in India as devas or divinities). The inner sanctum of the temple at Shantivanam is being preserved, while the actual prayer hall has been torn down to be rebuilt. I'll say more in a later blog, about this project of rebuilding the temple.
